Blog Tour for Purgatory Reign by L.M. Preston – Introducing Emma Michaels
What I Love About Writing
There are so many reasons to love writing. Everything from the process to that amazing feeling you get when you have finished a novel. Except, I don’t get that amazing feeling of accomplishment, I feel like I have just lost my best friend. I am the type of writer who writes because not writing would be more difficult for me than running a marathon (which as a lifelong asthmatic I am literally incapable of). Getting to experience the freedom of a blank page slowly being filled the words that bring a story to life if why I write.
I love getting to create and know as I start a novel that the possibilities are endless. I love creating characters and then watching them grow into more than I had even intended. I choose the confines of their world and from there it suddenly leaves my hands and has a life of its own that I get to write and add twists and turns to. It really is a thrill ride for me filled with adventure and one I feel so blessed to get to share with readers!
If you would like to check out my novel Owlet feel free to stop by my website www.EmmaMichaels.com! In the meantime here is the blurb!
Somewhere between falling and flying… there is a girl.
Iris has a secret. She lost her memory eight years ago and never told a living soul. After an asthma attack one night she finds out that her dreams of a strange house on a snowy island may be a memory resurfacing but the more she learns about the past the more she realizes the life she has been living is a lie. As the façade her father has built starts to crumble around her she will have to decide which means more to her; the truth or her life.
Thank you Linda for featuring me and a big thank you so everyone reading!
When you are reading, what draws you towards a character? Do you incorporate that in your own characters?
I love flawed characters. When I read I need to feel a connection to a character and if they are too perfect I am not always able to connect. I love the kind of characters who don’t always know how to act or forget themselves when it is most important not to and slip up. If a character feels real to me then I will am more heavily invested in their journey which makes the difference between an enjoyable read and a truly extraordinary one. I try to keep my characters read, they aren’t perfect and they each have their reasons for everything they do but in the future I hope to strive to continue to grow as a writer and learn to focus on that aspect of my writing more and more.
Do you use literary Easter Eggs?
YES! I love literary Easter Eggs. Ever since reading the Harry Potter series I have been slightly obsessed with them. They make you want to go back and reread a series because each time you read it you see something new and realize things you didn’t the first time around.
What part of writing do you find the most fun?
I love plotting. I could literally sit down and plot for hours. It is so much fun to decide what twists and turns a story will take!
Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?
Yes. Thank you so much for reading Owlet. Readers are what truly make books come to life! You mean the world to me and have made my life the amazing adventure it has become!
Thank you so much Willow for featuring me on your blog!
